Guild History

The Dixie Quilt Guild was established in 1983 by a group of dedicated quilters in Saint George, Utah. Today, the guild has grown to over 200 members, and we continue to welcome new members each month.  Dixie Quilt Guild members are nationally and internationally recognized for their outstanding contributions to traditional quilting projects, art quilts, and wearable art.

We were recently recognized as an Art Group by the city of St. George.  As such we were invited to hold our meetings in the historical Electric Theater at 68 East Tabernacle.  We have also partnered with the Art Fest of St. George to hold our bi-yearly quilt show GEMS OF THE DESERT in conjunction with the city art show.

Our mission is to encourage, promote, and preserve the art of quilt making through the education of guild members, community citizens, youth and other interested parties.  We promote a strong educational program using quilts and quilt-making to provide historical background from the quilters’ experiences.  Additionally, the Guild is dedicated to building a stronger quilting community and a supportive public climate by providing member services, public awareness, and advocacy.
