About the Dixie Quilt Guild
We are a group of over 300 members with a passion for quilting, based in St. George, UT.
Our goal is to encourage, promote, and preserve the art of quilt making.
Through Guild activities, we strive to inspire one another, share tips and techniques, celebrate achievements, improve skills, and enjoy the camaraderie and support of fellow quilters.
When you join the Dixie Quilt Guild, you become part of an active, growing organization whose members share the common goals of promoting and preserving the art of quilt making in Southern Utah and Northeastern Nevada (Mesquite area).
Through Guild activities, we make friends with others who share our fascination with this art form, add to our knowledge of techniques, improve our skills, find solutions for challenges, and share satisfaction in our accomplishments.

Monthly Activities Overview
Friendship Groups consist of members in our Guild who get together monthly to socialize and/or work on projects. Groups typically consist of 6 to 10 quilters. The Group decides when to meet and what they want to work on when together. Some groups do Show & Tell and share what they have learned. The members of these groups often become good friends and frequently expand their activities beyond quilting. Inquire about joining a Friendship Group for a great way to socialize and learn from other quilters.
The Guild has a meeting most months of the year. An informative program is presented at each meeting. Our Programs committee coordinates most programs with the Workshops committee to utilize the expertise of our presenters.
Guild members can participate monthly in our Philanthropy program. All donated materials are clean and organized in a central location. There, members can participate in all aspects of creating quilts for various local charities. Members can also complete kits at home that are produced by the Philanthropy group and made available at Guild meetings. These quilts vary in size and range in skill level from beginner to advanced.
A part of each Guild Meeting is a volunteer sharing session where members can bring quilts or projects they have worked on to show to others in the Guild. It is amazing to see the beautiful quilts, wall hangings, bags, and other items that members of the Guild create. Photos of the quilts are added to the growing record of “Our Quilts”.
Workshops are available to all Guild members, usually at a nominal cost, payable at the time of registration. Some months, the workshops are geared towards beginning quilters, and some are for the more advanced. All Guild members are welcome regardless of current skill level. The workshops are designed to be a fun social gathering and an opportunity to learn from one another; a great day of learning and fun with friends. Occasionally, we bring in guest teachers, and our workshops may be offered to non-guild members at a higher rate.

Other Events Overview
The Guild sponsors an annual Quilt Challenge, usually with specific guidelines, such as color, theme, size, or other parameters. Participating in the challenge is a great way to jumpstart your quilting journey with the Guild!
Each year, members of the Guild go to Springdale, Utah, for a fun retreat at a nominal cost, plus accommodations. We lodge in a hotel and have a great time quilting together. Take time out to “unplug” and sew; this retreat is your opportunity to dedicate time to your craft and bond with fellow guild members. The annual Retreat is usually held in February/March, with information announced in the Fall during Guild meetings and is also published in the Newsletter.
Guild members collaborate with local charities and organizations to support those in need beyond our immediate area. We have supported Quilts of Valor, Sew Much Hope, Hobbs Charity and other giving programs. Our Philanthropy group, noted above, is also a large charity organization. Members can participate in and support charity functions in various ways. Details below.
Twice a year, the Guild manages a local week of “Open Sew” where members can set up and work on any projects without having to take down each day, similar to a retreat, but it’s only $10 to attend, and half of the attendees receive a door prize!

All services are based on eligibility and are provided at no cost to the families.
Amazing program! The director states that he has expanded the distribution of refurbished machines to refugees in the US, as well as through international channels. He prefers mechanical machines, but will now accept working electronic machines. Donors of used sewing machines should contact Renee Hall via text at (435) 632-2973, let her know type and condition of machine, and make arrangements to drop off your machine to her.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national network of volunteers dedicated to awarding handmade, patriotic-themed quilts to service members and veterans touched by war. In the St. George area, veterans receive these honoring quilts through regional chapters and sew-ins. Watch for coming dates and details.
